Movies That Teach Bad Moral Lessons to Teens
If you’re on this site, you probably watch movies. And sometimes, otherwise entertaining movies for you and and the PG-13 crowd have some somewhat misguided ideas about the world:

1. Juno - Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, an offbeat young woman makes an unusual decision regarding her unborn child.
Moral Lesson – Parents and friends will support you if you get pregnant, and the father will always stick around. Hey, and if you don’t want to keep it, adoption is easy!
Reality - The inverse of the above statement is pretty common. Also, I don’t think boysenberry condoms are real. If they are, where can I get them?
…………………………………………………………………………………………………..
2. Superbad – Two co-dependent high school seniors are forced to deal with separation anxiety after their plan to stage a booze-soaked party goes awry.
Moral Lesson – If you want to be popular, get beer for the popular kids! Popular by association.
Reality -The popular kids are just using you. You aren’t popular, and you won’t ever be. It’s the high school curse. Also, planning to get high school girls drunk so you can have sex with them isn’t awesome, it’s called statutory rape.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………..
3. American Pie – American Pie takes a hysterical look at the goal of four “unlucky in love” high school friends who make the ultimate pact: lose their virginity by prom night.
Moral Lesson – Losing your virginity by graduation is imperative.
Reality - Losing your virginity by graduation is imperative.
Really, it is.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………..
4. Porky’s – Set in 1954, a group of Florida high schoolers seek out to lose their virginity which leads them to seek revenge on a sleazy nightclub owner and his redneck sheriff brother for harassing them.
Moral Lesson – Exacting revenge on a police officer and club owner who wronged you is a good idea. So is peeping in the locker room.
Reality – Police Officers and club owners can easily have you killed. The backlash of those teen girls in the shower is probably much worse than death.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………..
5. Enchanted – A classic Disney fairytale collides with modern-day New York City in a story about a fairytale princess who is sent to our world by an evil queen. Soon after her arrival, Princess Giselle begins to change her views on life and love after meeting a handsome lawyer. Can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?
Moral Lesson – Fairytales are real and storybook romances exist.
Reality - It took a fairytale actually coming to life for there to be a storybook romance. Without that catalyst, Patrick Dempsey would have married someone he didn’t really love, and she would have ended up being a Wicked stepmother (sorry, couldn’t resist the pun).
