Short Circuit to Be Remade???

All of you Johnny 5 lovers are about to get some good news. It appears that today Dimension films and the Weinstein Company have picked up the rights to do a remake of 1986’s Short Circuit. Supposedly the original writers (S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock) are back on board as well.

If you’re not one who remembers the movie, the first film (and it’s sequel) were about a robot that escapes from a military research compound thinking he’s alive on a quest for freedom and more INPUT. Need input.

I was a pretty big fan when I was young of the film and I was shocked about a year ago when I had stumbled on some people who hadn’t seen it, so I’m interested in seeing what comes from this.

How are you guys feeling about this? Have you seen the original?

    I also grew up with this movie. I also loved Short Circuit 2. I really hope they don't screw with Johnny 5's looks or try to update him for the current generation, he doesn't need an iPod interface.
  • I grew up on this movie and love the original. I am very curious to see how they end up doing this remake - if it ends up being CGI, though, i will not go see it.
