Presidential Inauguration > Oscar Nominations

Normally, the nominations for Oscar awards are released on a Tuesday that falls around four weeks away from the actual show. This year however, the presidential inauguration will also fall on that Tuesday. With that in mind, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has decided to push back the nominations by two days.
Pushing the nomination release date back to Thursday, January 22nd rather than the previous Tuesday will only give the event coordinators a month to plan everything for the show as well as hold the voting (and then tabulate the votes).
