Girl Nakedness is Hot, Male Nakedness is Funny aka This Week in Movies 4/16/08
Because news doesn’t stop from week to week (or even day to day), we cannot either. We’ve got a whole bunch of tidbits ready for your eyes to devour and your mouse to get all clicky on. Enjoy.
* While we’re borderlining (noun to verb, that’s ok) on getting sick of all the Iron Man posts, I’m sure someone isn’t. Slash Film wrote that early reviews of Iron Man are coming in very positive and stating that they’re “absolutely blown away by the sheer awesomeness”. Judging by the 1,000 video clips and trailers I’ve seen, I believe I’ve seen the film already, so maybe I can rate it too.
* In a brilliant move by the Onion, they’ve picked up on the over abundance of Iron Man hype and videos and released a little video of their own. If you’ve got a sense of humor, you need to watch this. If you don’t have one, well, leave. Video embedded below.
* Our scandalous title this week was chosen thanks to a post on Cinematical. They decided to put together the seven most hilarious moments of nudity in film. Borat’s naked wrestling scene topped the list and it all went down from there. Oddly enough, female nudity isn’t funny, just enjoyed…err…required…err..moving on…
* The Movie Blog wrote a story on some pictures of G.I. Joe battle armor that they found. Unfortunately, the only thing underneath the armor was mannequins in the picture. Not terribly exciting.
* IGN released a red band trailer for the film The Babysitters. From watching it, I’m a bit confused as to what makes it a red band, but who’s going to complain about it in general? Also, don’t search “The Babysitters” on google images unless you’re not looking for the movie. Well, at least not that movie.
* If you’re not tired of the Anna Faris dumb blond role (one I must add that she’s perfected), you’ll want to check out the trailer for her new film The House Bunny. To be honest, it doesn’t actually look that terrible. What a startling recommendation that was…
* In one of the coolest posts of the week (at least to a geek like me), Slashfilm posted some super hi-res photos from WALL-E. When I say super hi-res, I’m talking HUGE. These photos are about 35mb in size, so you won’t be able to view them in your browser. You can, however, download them thanks to Slashfilm’s kindness. Check them out, they make nice desktop images.
* According to sources, the new Indiana Jones flick (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) is going to be around two hours and twenty minutes long. Apparently young gun Shia LeBouf has brought some stamina to the franchise. Read more about it here, here or here.
* The Farrelly Bros. are back. Cinematical let’s us know that their next film will be a redneck action/adventure. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve enjoyed a lot of their films, but are their shock gags even still relevant in today’s comedy world?
So we’ve safely wrapped up another issue of This Week in Movies. In closing, I’ll leave you with a little convo between Neil and Kevin at Film School Rejects. Hopefully ya’ll come back now ya’ hear?
NEIL: Iron Man is going to be awesome.
KEVIN: Sure.
NEIL: You must admit that Iron Man is going to be awesome.
KEVIN: Yeah, whatever.
NEIL: Iron Man will be the greatest movie ever made in the history of the world.
KEVIN: Uh… okay.
NEIL: Bow down and worship Iron Man!
KEVIN: I’m in a car right now.
NEIL: You will kneel before Iron Man!
KEVIN: Look, I’m sure it’s going to be a great movie…
NEIL: I would totally make out with Jon Favreau.
KEVIN: [long, uncomfortable pause] Can we stop at McDonalds?
