New Pics: Burn After Reading

Maybe you’re familiar with those silly Coen guys. You know, the ones that were Oscars successes this year? The ones that have made countless critically acclaimed films (No Country for Old Men, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, etc.). Yeah, those Coen guys. Well, they’re up to no good again. This time around they’ve got another star filled cast (Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton, George Clooney, John Malkovich) and a nice sounding story to boot.
Burn After Reading, which is going to be the first film played for this years Venice Film Festival, is the story of two unscrupulous gym employees who stumble upon a disk filled with memoirs of a CIA agent and attempt to sell it. Malkovich stars as CIA agent Osbourne Cox who, after falling on some hard times, decides to put together his memoirs (which just so happen to be filled with government secrets). Tilda stars as Cox’s wife who attempts to steal the disk to use for divorce proceedings but mistakenly, it ends up in the hands of two gym employees named Chad and Linda (Pitt and Frances McDormand). Chad and Linda attempt to sell the disk to pay for Linda’s plastic surgery and in turn have CIA agent Harry Pfarrer (Clooney) dispatched after them to get the disk back.

Burn After Reading is currently set to release on September 12th. It’s being directed by the great Ethan and Joel Coen. Those interested can get more info over on IHM’s page for the film.
