Sneak Peek: Land of the Lost Mean Sleestaks
I’ll be honest here at the beginning of this post. I wasn’t around when the original Land of the Lost aired. I’ve never seen the TV show. Up until recently, I hadn’t even heard about anyone remaking the TV into a feature length movie. Though, all of this doesn’t mean I’m not now interested in the project.
Land of the Lost (the film) will feature Will Ferrell as Park Ranger Rick Marshall who, with his two children, gets lost into a mysterious land that is ruled by Pakuni (monkey like men), Sleestaks (pictured below) and dinosaurs. It’s intended to be a comedy in design and also will star Danny McBride (The Foot Fist Way).
We were able to get a sneak peek picture of the film’s Sleestak characters that was released today by USA Today. Director Brad Silberling had the choice between a CGI based Sleestak or the old fashion men in suits Sleestak and he chose not to go the CGI route saying that he though the suits offered more comedic effect. I’ll have to hold off on what I think there until I see the film (or maybe a trailer from it).
Anyway, check out the picture below and let me know what you think. Are you a fan of the original TV show? If not, are you interested now?
Land of the Lost is set to be released on July 17th, 2009. It’s being directed by Brad Silberling and stars Will Ferrell and Danny McBride. Those interested in more details can check out IHM’s page on the film.
