Hancock American Idol Preview

Last night during American Idol, the fine folks at Columbia Pictures decided they would give the world (well at least those who watched American Idol) a sneak peek at Hancock.  Up until now, all we’ve really had to go by on this new Will Smith flick was a short trailer that didn’t really show off much.  This preview shows a whole lot more of the premise and idea behind the film.  Instead of looking like a parody of superheroes in general, from this clip we’re able to decipher that it’s an action/drama featuring a whole new superhero.  I’m actually really interested in this now.  Hancock is set to hit theaters on July 2nd.

How do you think this will turn out?  Are you interested in seeing it now?

A hard-living superhero (Smith) who has fallen out of favor with the public enters into a questionable relationship with the wife (Theron) of the public relations professional (Bateman) who’s trying to repair his image.

    i was interested in seeing it before and now i'm more interested. i like the idea of a superhero that does whatever he wants.
  • true. true. i'm looking forward to it. although i don't like cheesy fart jokes, and it looks like there'll at least be one instance of Hancock blasting off using a super-fart.
  • Well I understand it's a bit out of what appears to be Hancock's character to wear a suit, I believe that's the role of Bateman. He's supposed to be consulting and helping Hancock get a better public image and my guess is that he'll don the supersuit just as he's coming to save the day at the end. At least that's how it always goes. Badass hero walks in, fully clothed in new suit, to save the day.
  • I was going to blog about this too mainly talking about how a college classmate several years ago made his senior film thesis with a Hancock-esque character. I forgot the name, but his character was a messed up superhero, even had the same beanie as Hancock. Freakin weird.

    About the trailer: i am disappointed that he wears a 'supersuit' though.
