Jumper - 5.9/10 - Trailer
Hayden Christensen finds out that he has the ability to teleport himself anywhere in the world in the blink of an eye. After some people try to capture and kill him, he finds out that he’s not the only “Jumper” out there and that there has been a secret war going on for centuries. Soon he is being chased all over the world by Samuel L. Jackson. Now he must protect himself and his girlfriend. The idea of this film seemed pretty good but the overall film was slow going and they tried too hard to set this film up for sequels, which hopefully there are none. If you like sci-fi than you might want to check this out but I’d be careful because this film was a huge let down.
The Bucket List - 7.3/10 - Trailer
Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman play two terminally ill patients who decide to create a “bucket list”, a wish list of things they would like to do before they pass away. Soon they leave their cancer ward and head out on road trip trying to scratch as many things off of the bucket list as possible. This looks like a pretty decent drama/comedy with some well known actors. I think everyone loves Morgan Freeman and why shouldn’t you and just about everyone should be able to recognize the power of Jack Nicholson so they should be able to pull off a pretty good film. This could also be a great “family film” for parents with older kids.
The Other Boleyn Girl - 7.6/10 - Trailer
Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman star as the Boleyn sisters who are competing for the affection of the King of England (Eric Bana), even though he is already married. One is fighting for love while the other is fighting for the crown. Although the film didn’t do particularly well with the critics, it did score high points among the general audience. Don’t expect this to be a historical drama but instead think of it as romantic thriller based in a specific time period. I don’t know what it is about Scarlett Johansson but I usually enjoy the roles she plays, especially in Scoop, so I’ll be looking forward to her in this film. And no matter what else Natalie Portman does, I’ll always see her as Princess Amidala. I think this might be leaning more towards the feminie side but with two stunning actresses in the film, I think you might be able to convince some guys to watch it.
My Rentals:
The Other Boleyn Girl - like I said, I’m a big fan of Johansson and I’ll probably watch anything she’s in. Hopefully I won’t regret watching this film.
