Nerd Alert: Marvel Movie Lineup Released

MTV Movies Blog writer Josh Horowitz stumbled upon a poster Marvel created at New York’s Licensing Expo that featured Marvel’s plans over the next few years. In the poster you’ll see their plans through 2011 as far as comic book crossover movies. Oddly enough Punisher: War Zone (which releases December 5th) and Ant-Man (which is supposed to release ~2010) are both missing from this list. While Punisher is being handled by Lionsgate and has a lot of doubters, Ant-Man is supposed to be handled by Marvel. Maybe they’re not hoping for too much out of it.

I wonder how much pressure will be on Marvel and crew to get Iron Man 2 out by 2010 when nothing is done and Marvel hasn’t even agreed on a contract with Jon Favreau to be the director for the sequel. The internet awaits your next move Marvel…

Also, what kind of title is “The First Avenger: Captain America”? Who wants to say that mouthful every time they write or talk about the film? I’m all for “The Cap” or something less formal as a title.

Comic nerds, what do you think of this? Are you so totally pumped for this release slate or are you worried about a possible screwup in your happy comic world?
