General Admission - June 13th, 2008
Opening this Friday the 13th
The Happening - Trailer - Starring Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel, John Leguizamo
This is another thriller film from M. Night Shyamalan, the guy who brought us The Sixth Sense. In the film a nation wide epidemic breaks out which starts causing everyone to commit suicide. Now everyone must avoid becoming victims even though there is no known way to prevent the “disease”. I’m assuming that everyone is expecting some big twist in the film, as per Shyamalan’s previous films. Also, this is his first film to achieve a rating of R. Everything makes this sound like a possibly great film, but we’ll have to wait and see what “Happens”.
The Incredible Hulk - Trailer - Starring Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, William Hurt
This film wants us to forget the previous Ang Lee attempt, Hulk, and start over with a clean slate. So this film is not a continuation or a remake, it’s a completely new film. So the film will start off with Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) on the run from the US government who wants to study him and the Hulk. Eventually they will instead create their own “Hulk” through experimentation, resulting in “Abomination” played by Tim Roth. Now Bruce must transform into the Hulk and fight off this new monster. Supposedly this film is doing real well with the critics and the first Bruce Banner scenes are being compared to the Bourne films for their speed and action. The film will also feel more like the old comics and have more action than the previous film. If your a comic book/movie fan than you’ll probably want to catch this film and hopefully be able to forget the previous film.
Young People Fucking - Trailer
This film is being labelled as the sex comedy for those who have experience. Usually the sex comedies that come out these days are about high-schoolers that are trying to lose their virginity before they go off to college but this film is about mid-20s to 30s people who already know what their doing, or so they think. From the trailers the film looks pretty damn funny and even though many of the actors are unknowns, it should turn out to be a good film. There is a possibility that this film might not be airing in your area, but if it is, you might want to check it out, don’t worry, it’s not a porno.
What I Plan on Seeing:
The Happening - I really enjoyed the Sixth Sense and the Village, but his other films haven’t been so great. I’m hoping this movie will get Shyamalan back on track into making great movies.
Young People Fucking - just from the trailers, I really want to catch this film and since it’s playing in my city I’ll be doing my best to check it out.
I also might catch the Incredible Hulk, but I’ll be waiting for more reviews and word of mouth before I go and see it.
What do you plan on seeing this week? And do you think it’s lame for horror type movies to release on Friday the 13th?
