Get Smart – Trailer – Starring Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne Johnson, Alan Arkin, Masi Oka
This is a remake of the 1960’s spy parody television show of the same name. The show is a definite classic and one of my favorite shows of all time, which makes me worried of how they will change it for the film. Steve Carell is Maxwell Smart, a top analyst that finally gets his chance to prove himself as an Agent for the US spy agency Control when all of the other agents become targets of the evil organization KAOS. Now with the help of the sexy agent 99 (Anne Hathaway), Smart must save the world before his accidentally prone ways get him killed. I’ve been looking forward to this film ever since it was announced and I believe that Steve Carell is one of the few actors that can pull off this famous role. If the film is anything like the show than this will be filled with laughs and will be an all around good time. Plus Anne Hathaway in leather doesn’t hurt.
The Love Guru - Trailer – Starring Mike Myers, Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake, Romany Malco
Mike Myers is back to his old bag of tricks playing over exaggerated characters in an over exaggerated comedy ala Austin Powers. Unfortunately for Mike, Austin Powers humor died a long long time ago. In this film, Mike is Guru Pitka, a proclaimed self-help and spiritual guide who must help the star player of the Toronto Maple Leafs fall back in love with his wife so that he will be able to help his team win the Stanley Cup for the first time in 40 years. From the looks of the trailer this will be another Austin Powers esq film with very low brow humor and possibly not many laughs. Unless you’re a huge fan of Myers and the Powers series I’d suggest skipping this movie especially after all the poor reviews the film is receiving.
What I Plan on Seeing:
Get Smart – Like I said, I used to watch the repeats of this show when I was younger and I loved it. Steve Carell is a comic genius and Anne Hathaway is gorgeous, what else could you ask for?
