The Tracey Fragments - Trailer
Tracey (Ellen Page) is riding the bus, wearing only a shower curtain, looking for her little brother Sonny, who thinks he’s a dog. Ellen Page is on screen for nearly the entire film and giving it her all. As Tracey’s journey runs through the city looking for her brother, it leads us into the dark underbelly of her home, school and life. Some of the critics have called this film too arty and too confusing so it might be a film for the casual viewer. I’m mostly interested into seeing how this indie splitscreen film starring an up and coming leading actress.

Stop-Loss - 7.3/10 - Trailer The stop-loss policy is a US military requirement for soldiers to remain in service beyond their normal discharge date. This film is about a young American solider who comes home from Iraq expecting to get back to his normal life, only to be stop-lossed. Instead of following orders and heading back, Brandon King (Ryan Phillippe) decides to go AWOL. Brandon believes he served his country enough and does not go back to fight a war that he might not agree with. This film might be more of a political piece being used to have audiences question the war, but if it does get people to question what is going on, that might be a good thing.

Batman: Gotham Knight
This is a straight to DVD collection of animated films that is being used to give a look into what has happened in between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. This collection is done in the same fashion of The Animatrix, where different artists and writers worked on separate “episodes” giving them each a different look and feel. You won’t need to see this to understand what’s going on in The Dark Knight but for fans of the franchise this should be a good filler until the film releases on the 18th.

The Ruins - 5/10 - Trailer
When a group of tourists decide to embark on an archaeological dig in Mexico where everything takes a turn for the worse. Unfortunately for the group, something evil lies in these Ruins, and now a generic horror movie must take place. But instead of a good screamer you will just get a nice helping of blood and gore.

Superhero Movie - 3/10 - Trailer
Hooray for another parody of a popular films, those Scary Movie guys are at it again but this time they are taking on the uprising of superhero films such as Spider-Man, X-Men and Batman. You can probably guess who their going to make fun of and if you close your eyes, you can probably predict the jokes they’re going to make as well. Just save yourself the time and money and make up your own film, it’ll probably be better. Also, you don’t want to give these guys any more money to keep making these films.

My Rentals:
The Tracey Fragments - I’m interested into seeing how this film plays out, good or bad.
Batman: Gotham Knight - Batman rocks, The Animatrix rocks and I’m hoping this film will rock too.

Also, if you want to see what I’m currently renting, feel free to bookmark my Rentals List over at IHM.  I’ll try and update the list weekly or whenever I pick up a new film to watch.

What do you plan on grabbing this week?

Coming up next week:
Step Up 2: The Streets, College Road Trip, The Bank Job, Penelope

I watched part of The Tracey Fragments today and I liked the style to the narration and Page's performance. She's almost never off screen and does a really good job at the performance for the film.

Stop-Loss was ok. It seemed to be trying to make a really valid point, but came off as trying too hard to make it or just not really accomplishing what you think it should have. I had hoped for a lot more from it considering the cast, but overall it was just an alright film.

The Ruins was a boring and overly gory wannabe horror flick. It relied too heavily on gore in an attempt to scare and really fell right through it's weak plot. I watched it on a whim and I guess I hadn't expected too much from it. If you're not a fan of seeing useless gore, you're not going to be a fan.

I won't be picking up anything as I've seen everything I'm interested in. I've still got to catch Hancock (even though I'm told it's terrible from some) and I've got to pump myself up for next weekend's Dark Knight release.
