The Bank Job - 7.3/10 - Trailer
This film is based on the true story of the 1971 Baker Street bank robbery.  The Government had a gag order to prevent the real story from being told for over 30 years.  The robbery is one of biggest robberies in Britain that resulted in no arrests and no stolen goods recovered.  The robberies dug beneath the vault and broke in, getting away with over $3 million pounds in goods.  The news only reported the incident for a few days before the gag order came into affect.  But what really happened involves murder, corruption and a sex scandal that links to the Royal Family.  I don’t know how much fact is in the film, but I don’t really care, it sounds like a pretty decent film either way.  If you’re itching for a decent crime thriller than you should pick this one up when you’re out.

Penelope - 7.8/10 - Trailer
Christina Ricci is Penelope, a young heiress that is born with a curse, she must live with a pig nose until she finds true love.  This is a modern day fairytale that has a very clear message about beauty that it is trying to send out.  Penelope is kept hidden away within her family’s estate while her parents attempt to find her an appropriate suitor.  All of the men are enticed by the large dowry that comes with the marriage to Penelope but none of them can look past her nose.  Soon Penelope gets sick of staying inside all the time and decides to venture out on her own where she finds adventure and her first true friend.  I can forsee the typical recipe for romantic-comedy being applied here, where boy meets girl, something bad happens, they split up, someone apologizes…happily ever after.  But I’ll admit the story looks cute and should provide a decent viewing.

Step Up 2: The Streets - 4.9/10 - Trailer
Oh no, now they are on the streets, dancing, omg! Two people from different backgrounds fall in love and decide to dance it out. Well, there’s a bit more to it, “The Streets” is actually a dance competition that the lovers decide to enter after one of the two gets kicked out of a popular dance group. Now the couple has to get a ‘crew’ together and win the competition.  So if you’re in the mood for some amazing dance movies I’d suggest using YouTube instead and save yourself some money.  With very little plot and even less quality I’d skip this movie.

College Road Trip - Trailer
Martin Lawrence plays a father whose daughter is about to choose her college during a road trip across the country.  Afraid of having his daughter moving far away from home, he decides to crash her road trip and make sure that he doesn’t lose her into the wild college crowd.  This could have been a good father/daughter film but even Disney couldn’t save this film from being horrible.  If you want a family film to share with your youngsters this week, then this is you’re only new choice, but it might be a better idea to take them to see Wall-E again.

My Rentals:
The Bank Job - I’m in the mood for a good thriller, so I hope this film can deliver.
Penelope - Even though this look’s like it could be a chick flick, I’m attracted to film and hopefully it won’t be too bad.

What do you plan on catching this week?
