Rumor: Jason Statham to Star in Frank Miller Daredevil Reboot

Now, this is just internet gossip and rumors at this point.  And, being the high brow blog that we are, we feel very comfortable dipping into the gossip pot to bring you news that more than likely may not even be true.  That’s what you come to us for…  Right?

As this rumor goes, Jason Statham apparently expressed his interest to Frank Miller (director of Sin City and The Spirit as well as tons of comic books/graphic novels) about playing Daredevil in a new revamp of the series.  They met at this year’s Comic-Con and just so happened to get takling when Statham expressed how much he would love to play the character stating, “absolutely, just give me the chance, I would love to be Daredevil.”  Frank Miller supposedly responded pretty favorably stating that he believed Statham would make a good Daredevil.

Now, you may remember the last attempt at Daredevil which starred Ben Affleck.  Unfortunately, unlike the recent Incredbile Hulk film (which was a reboot of Ang Lee’s Hulk), it may be a bit harder to get people interested in a film that many consider to be one of the worst comic book films of all time.  The terrible film also was able to spawn an even worse Elektra movie starring Jennifer Garner.  While I have little doubt of Miller’s abilities in turning properties to gold, I just don’t know if his name and Statham’s kickass-ery will be able to interest the general moviegoers.

So, with all of the above rumors in mind, how do you feel about a Daredevil reboot?  Do you think Statham and Miller would be able to turn the franchise into a success?  Would you plan on seeing it?

i think statham might be able to do the daredevil part (if he loses the accent) but i can't see him as Matt Murdock lawyer.

After the casting and production of the recent Batman attempts it's time to pack it in about adapting comics to the movies. Period. Entertainment is truly dead around the planet Earth.
  • @viper squad Are you saying Batman was bad or that no one can live up to The Dark Knight?

I really hope this is a rumor. I'm sort of getting sick of the remakes of classic comics.

@Blaire: The last attempt at Daredevil was disastrous.
  • Blaire
Yes it was. But does that mean this will be better? I'm a skeptic and want fresh new movies. I don't care if it's from a comic, I just want it to be something I haven't seen before in any other form.

The two recent Batman movies are garbage. They need to rethink what they want from this title to bring it back to normalcy or it's nothing but junk supported by marketing posers on the internet. To begin, they have to recast them and bring in some appropriate actors and a director who can actually act and direct, or it's sunk like the fraudulent junk it is. Everyone knows this, mike. No sense in hiding behind that mask that doesn't work.

@Viper Squad: "supported by marketing posers" What does that even mean? Your comment is an incoherent mess of ideas. Try again.
