Simon Pegg no longer a ‘Bastard’

It looks like Simon Pegg will no longer be in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Inglorious Bastards‘, which is a huge disapointment. I love Simon Pegg and ever since I saw Shaun of the Dead I’ve done everything I can to watch Simon Pegg in films, television and comic books. I was excited to hear a little while ago that he was in talks to be in the next QT film and had big hopes for the film. He posted about this upsetting news on his blog:

Much to our mutual disappointment, I won’t be appearing in QT’s forthcoming Inglorious Bastards due to insurmountable scheduling difficulties. We really tried to make it work but in the end, it just was not possible without severe ramifications elsewhere.

I’m trying to remain upbeat, as Tom Selleck said “Who the hell is Indiana Jones anyway?”

But this isn’t all bad news, the reason why Pegg is not going to be in the film is that he and Nick Frost are teaming up with the director of Superbad for a new film titled ‘Paul’. The film will be about two comic book geeks who set out on a road trip accross the US. And not to get you’re hopes up, this film is NOT part of the the “Three Flavours Cornetto” trilogy (which contains Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz). I’m so excited to see Frost reunite with Pegg as I mentioned about keeping up with Pegg’s work, I also try and keep up with Frost’s work as well, especially his show Hyperdrive. Even if this isn’t part of the trilogy I’ll will be looking forward to this film.

I bet Simon Pegg will do a bang up job as a comic book geek, especially since his likeness is being used in a comic book series entitled ‘The Boys‘ (which just got into reading). Pegg is a fan of the comic books series and wrote the intro for the first volume. If you’re a Simon Pegg or comic book fan, I’d recommend the series which pretty much answers “Who watches the Watchmen?” ie. the series centers around a CIA squad whose job it is to keep superheroes in check.
