Pic: Prince of Persia Jake Gyllenhaal

While we’re not all that great at unleashing set photos to the world, JustJared tends to specialize in it.  This time, they’ve released a pic of a Mr. Jake Gyllenhaal in full character for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.  Not only is he looking very much like the game (beyond some facial differences), he’s looking like a rough and buff Gyllenhaal.

I’d have to say that the filmmakers definitely have an advantage over the rest of the video game crossover bunch with talented Gyllenhaal leading.  It’ll be interesting to see how this will peak people’s interest and if they can make this successful and a wide interest as opposed to just gamers.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is set to release May 28th, 2010.  Though, keep in mind the date was just pushed back, so it may get knocked back a few more times before they settle on a final date.  What do you think about all of this? Can a video game transcend the game and become popular enough to be successful?

    yea, he looks exactly like the game, except for the face and beard.
    when i heard that Prince of Persia was going to be a movie, i thought 'cool, an adult Aladdin' so i just hope the studio doesn't screw it up. also, it's a plus that Uwe Boll didn't get his hands on it.
