Pegg and Frost reuniting…in Tintin…wha?

So the Times Online had a nice little article about Simon Pegg recently where it was revealed that Steven Speilberg is interested in having Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in his new film adaptation of Tintin.

“Steven’s smoking a stogy, cap on head, like he’s always been since I was a baby,” Pegg says, shaking his head in wonder. “I shook his hand and chatted about films. He gave me the mo-cap [motion-capture] camera, and I had a play around with it. Then he said, ‘Hey, maybe you and Nick Frost could play the Thompson Twins.’ In Tintin. A Spielberg movie. To work with him is beyond .. . ” He trails off, lost for words.

I used to read these books when I was younger, in French no less, and I loved them.  I read all the books that my local library had and then it quickly fell out of my mind because I didn’t have any new ones to look forward too.  I’m really excited to see this being made into a film and with Steven Speilberg and Peter Jackson attached, you know it’s going to be a great film.  The only problem I see with Pegg and Frost playing the Thompson Twins is that, well, they aren’t twins.  In the original Tintin series, the Thompson Twins are identical, I mean ctrl-c ctrl-v identical.  So even though the film will be animated 3D motion-capture, and only the voices will be used I would have assumed identical voices for identical twins.  Maybe the wording of the quote is wrong and that one of the guys would be the Thompson Twins and the other would play another character, or it’s possible that they wanted two seperate voices to help tell the twins apart.  Either way, I can’t wait for the film and I can’t wait to see what develops from the possible Hot Fuzz duo.

Are you excited to have Tintin made into a film? And are you even happier that Pegg n Frost might provide voices/motion capture?
