Opening this week:
Zack and Miri Make a Porno – Trailer
Starring Seth Rogen, Elizabeth Banks, Craig Robinson, Jason Mewes, Traci Lords, Jeff Anderson, Katie Morgan, Ricky Mabe
Lifelong platonic friends Zack and Miri look to solve their respective cash-flow problems by making an adult film together. As the cameras roll, however, the duo begin to sense that they may have more feelings for each other than they previously thought. Seth Rogen, Kevin Smith and porn, not usually three things you want together but this is the exception.
Changeling – Trailer
Starring Angelina Jolie, Gattlin Griffith, Jeffrey Donovan, John Malkovich, Jason Butler Harner, Amy Ryan, Michael Kelly, Geoff Pierson, Colm Feore
The film is set in late 1920s Los Angeles and is based on a real-life incident related to the Wineville Chicken Coop Murders, an infamous kidnapping and murder case that spanned 1928–1930 and received nationwide attention in the United States. When single mother Christine Collins (Jolie) returns home from her job as a telephone operator, she finds that her nine-year-old son, Walter, is missing. An exhaustive search for the boy proves unproductive, but five months later a child claiming to be Walter is returned to her by police. Despite knowing that the boy is not Walter, overcome by conflicting emotions in the crowd of police and reporters, Collins is persuaded to take the boy home. When Collins urges the authorities to continue looking for her son, she is vilified as an unfit mother and branded delusional. With the help of Reverend Gustav Briegleb (Malkovich), Collins confronts the city authorities and corruption in the Los Angeles Police Department to find out the truth.
The Haunting of Molly Hartley – Trailer
Starring Halley Bennet, Chace Crawford, Annalynne McCord, Shannon Woodward, Jake Weber
Molly (Haley Bennett) is a 17 year old girl who has physically recovered from a stab wound inflicted by her mother, but the psychological scars that remain run deep. To help her begin a new life after her trauma, her father has moved her into a new school. With her eighteenth birthday approaching, Molly is haunted by nightmares of her mother’s attack upon her while dealing with the stress of being the new girl in school. Symptoms of psychosis that seem to be affecting her seem to foreshadow an onset of the mental illness that took control of her mother’s life, but of several different explanations for her distress, the most unforeseen and terrifying is revealed as the truth. Ultimately, Molly discovers that her mother and others who share her mother’s concerns want her killed in order to save her from a preordained life as a servant of the Devil.
RocknRolla (Wide Release) – Trailer
Starring Gerard Butler, Tom Wilkinson, Thandie Newton, Idris Elba, Chris Bridges, Jeremy Piven, Gemma Arterton
In London, a real-estate scam puts millions of pounds up for grabs, attracting some of the city’s scrappiest tough guys and its more established underworld types, all of whom are looking to get rich quick. While the city’s seasoned criminals vie for the cash, an unexpected player — a drugged out rock ‘n’ roller presumed to be dead but very much alive — has a multi-million dollar prize fall into his hands.
My Ticket Purchases:
I will be seeing a Porno this week, you know the one starring Seth Rogen (yea, I never thought I’d be hearing myself say that either). I did have some free tickets to see the film on Wedsneday but unfortunately I was working and couldn’t get the time off *sad face*. Also it looks like RocknRolla finally got a wide enough release to reach the theaters near me so I’ll hopefully be catching that one too.
