Happy Turkey Day, Gobble Gobble

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends. For those of you who are having their big turkey dinner tonight I thought I’d give you some nice recent releases that you can watch with your family while you digest your food.
Average Family
Wall-E
This can be a nice movie to watch for families of all ages. It’s a great heart warming family movie, but what else do you expect from a Pixar/Disney movie? And don’t forget to watch the extra features such as the animated shorts “Presto” and “BURN-E”.
Family with a High Estrogen Count
Sex and the City: The Movie
Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Chris Noth, Jennifer Hudson, Candice Bergen
A continuation of the popular television series, this is a good older mother/daughter film that has an equal mix of comedy and romance. Keep your glass filled after the meal and this one should go by smoothly and make it less awkward during the sex scenes.
Family with a High Testosterone Count
The Incredible Hulk
Starring Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, William Hurt
Some parts Bourne and some parts “Hulk smash!” but all parts great action. Finally the Hulk is a badass again. You don’t see him looking sad or attempting to cry like the previous film, all you see him doing is kicking ass and taking names.
Family with Young Boys
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
An animated Star Wars movie directly targeted for a younger generation. You have all you’re regular Star Wars stuff, lightsaber battles, droid battles and flying through space. Also, if the kids like the film there is a television series of the same name that is currently running. You should be able to get the boys to stop running around the house for about 90 minutes if you pop this one in.
Family with Young Girls
Sleeping Beauty
A classic Disney princess film that is a great film for girls of all ages but being a cartoon might be the best bet for little ones. And after the film it should be easy to get the little ones to bed especially if you tell them that when they wake up they might become princesses.
Older Family That Can Handle an Overweight Foul Mouthed Tom Cruise
Tropic Thunder
Starring Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr, Jack Black, Jay Baruchel, Brandon T. Jackson, Steve Coogan, Nick Nolte, Danny McBride, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Cruise
A hilarious comedy about a group of actors who believe that they are filming an amazingly realistic vietnam war movie but are in fact in the middle of a real battle. Oh yea, Robert Downey Jr plays the squads African American soldier, which is hilarious. And Tom Cruise puts on a fat suit, losses his hair and starts yelling and swearing a lot, which is also hilarious. Make sure the youngins are out of the room for this one.
Family Who Wants the Turkey Scared Out of Them
The Strangers
Starring Liv Tyler, Scott Speedman, Gemma Ward, Glenn Howerton
A young couple is all alone in a cabing when a mysterious girl comes knocking at the door. Then everything goes downhill from there, the couple is then chased and tormented by a group of three strangers who are committing these acts for no reason other than they were bored. Keep the little ones and anyone with a weak heart away from this one.
Happy Thanksgiving and I hope everyone doesn’t mind turkey leftovers for the rest of the week and save some stuffing for me.
