Not Into The Super Bowl?

Not into watching Super Bowl? Well then I’ve got some football themed films you can watch. And if you are into the Super Bowl, then you can pick one of these to end off your Superbowl party.

sundayAny Given Sunday – 6.9/10
Starring Al Pacino, Dennis Quaid, Cameron Diaz, James Woods, Jamie Foxx, LL Cool J, Elizabeth Berkley, Charlton Heston
This film follows a once great fictional NFL team that is now struggling to make the playoffs and deals with all aspects of the game, on and off the field.  The star quarterback gets taken out of the game and a nameless third-stringer steps in, surprising everyone with his talent.  Al Pacino is great as an angry coach and Jamie Foxx and LL fit the football roles perfectly.  This is a great fun film for any football fan.

titansRemember the Titans – 7.6/10
Starring Denzel Washington, Will Patton, Wood Harris, Ryan Hurst, Hayden Panettiere, Donald Faison, Ethan Suplee
Based on true events from Virginia 1971, the once segregated highschools close and the students are forced into a new single high school under federal mandate.  The then successful caucasian coach is replaced by the african american coach from North Carolina to lead the towns first team of players of different races.  This is a great heart warming film that shows how people can learn to get past differences of race and work together towards a common goal.

varsityVarsity Blues – 5.9/10
Starring James Van Der Beek, Amy Smart, Paul Walker, Ali Larter, Jon Voight, Scott Caan
This film follows a small town highschool football team where football is all they know and losing is not an option.  After the star quarterback goes down with a blown-knee, the back-up QB must now step up and lead his team to victory.  This is a fun little film that is tailored more towards a teenage crowd so adults need not apply.

Also, for those checking out the Super Bowl, don’t forget to watch for the teaser trailers of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Star Trek and GI Joe many of which can be found online already.

Strangely enough, I like Varsity Blues the best out of all of those.
